For Immediate Release - July 31st, 2025
SUDBURY - NORCAT announced today that its Chief Executive Officer, Don Duval, who has led the organization for the past 13 years, will be stepping down at the end of 2025.
"It has been an absolute privilege to lead this organization and work with our incredible partners, government stakeholders, customers, and team members across all NORCAT locations to deliver on our mission," said NORCAT CEO, Don Duval. "I am so proud of our accomplishments, our organizational values, and our outlook for the future. Now is the right time for me to step down and provide an opportunity for a new leader to take the helm of this exceptional company."
Appointed in 2012, Duval successfully led a turnaround and repositioned the company with an ambitious strategy while building an incredible team and culture rooted in entrepreneurial spirit and resilience. Over his tenure, he guided NORCAT through 13 consecutive years of year-over-year growth, expanded the physical footprint of NORCAT from two to six locations, entered global markets with projects delivered in over twenty countries, and led the creation of the Sudbury Catalyst Fund, a seed stage co-investment venture fund focused on hard tech.
"My focus in the coming months is to ensure the incoming CEO has the foundation to guide NORCAT through its next exciting phase of growth," Duval added. "We are in the midst of a multi-million-dollar capital expansion at the NORCAT Underground Centre, navigating significant growth opportunities within Studio NORCAT, and investing in our training and development facilities across North America. I will continue to work with our team and all stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition."
Greg Maybee, Chair of the NORCAT Board of Directors, echoed Duval’s sentiments while commending his contributions. "Under Don’s leadership, NORCAT has established itself as the one-stop shop for all that is the future of mining technology and the global leader in skilled labour training and development for the mining industry. His vision, leadership, and unwavering commitment have transformed NORCAT into an organisation that plays an invaluable role in fostering innovation, venture capital, and education."
The NORCAT Board of Directors has established a sub-committee to lead the search process for the new CEO, including the engagement of a search firm, which will be selected in the coming weeks.
